Domaine Anita Chénas Cuvée P'tit Co Les Brureaux 2021, A.C. Chénas, Beaujolais, France, 96 points James Suckling, $32.95 bottle x 12

CA$397.80

Anita Kuhnel not only works with great vineyards but she is clearly a great winemaker. Her estate is located in the heart of the crus, centering around Chénas and she chooses to opt for “plot cultivation,” which allows each bottle to reflect character. She refers to this as “making the plots speak,” clear and simply, as referenced by Cuvée P'tit Co Les Brureaux.

A light and airy, vibrantly fruity Chénas, appealingly floral, delicately structured, bright and fresh. I like the just-ripe fruit, the scintillating acids, the lingering perfume. Silky and finessed. Medium Bodied, with chalky dusty tannins and very much in balance.

96 points James Suckling

Domaine Anita is located in the heart of the Moulin a Vent Cru.  Producing 4 vintages on 16 hectares, the Domaine has the benefit of the best granite terroirs.    Domaine Anita includes some of the most prestigious crus of Beaujolais including Moulin à Vent, Morgon, Chénas, Fleurie, as well as some plots located on great terroirs of the Beaujolais-Villages appellation. Anita’s viticultural practices are specific to each plot, but always within her overarching philosophy of sustainable viticulture, with minimal treatments, green harvesting and strong canopy management.  Anita:  "Each Cuvee must be a reflection of the parcel".

Robert Parker “I have been a big fan of  Anita Kuhnel's wines for a number of years. The domaine was founded way back in 1943 by Jean-Pierre and Georgette Kuhnel, based in Morgon but expanding to Chénas and Moulin-à-Vent over subsequent years.  They farm 16 hectares of vines and adopt a traditional approach to winemaking that includes using the wooden press that Jean-Pierre first used to squash grapes back in 1943.  If you have not yet discovered Anita's wines, it  is time to do so.”
