Chateau Monier La Fraisse, Bordeaux Superieur, 2020, Bordeaux, France, $21.95 per bottle, (12 x 750ml)
This Bordeaux Superieur is an elegant wine full of panache. A blend of 55% Cabernet, 40% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc with aromas of red fruits on the palate. Immediate hints of fresh spices gradually give way to delicate and Jammy fruits. Pairs well with red meats and cheese.
About the Winery
Chateau Monier la Fraisse, a family estate belonging to the LaVeix family in the commune of Sauveterre de Guyenne. Their name comes from 2 vineyards separated by a country road. On one side we find the place called Monier and the other La Fraise. This 25 ha property enjoys a favorable and sunny location on the top of a plateau composed mainly of clay-loam soils.
Region and Vineyards
Located in the Bordeaux Supérieur AOC, the estate benefits from a mix of clay-limestone soils, ideal for Merlot and Cabernet varietals. The vineyards enjoy a temperate climate with good exposure, producing ripe fruit with balanced acidity. The vines average 25–30 years old, offering structure and consistency across vintages.
Why We Love It
This is classic, approachable Bordeaux done right—elegant structure, ripe fruit, and subtle oak in perfect balance. It punches well above its price point, making it an outstanding value. We love its versatility with food and its refined profile that still feels generous and modern.
